21 Oct Most Frequently Asked Tattoo Removal Questions
So you’re through with your tattoo.
It probably wasn’t an easy decision, and you probably have a lot of questions about the tattoo removal process. Well, we’ve probably heard all of them, so we thought we’d share some of the most frequently asked questions we hear at Vivid Tattoo Removal.
Q: How long does it take?
A: We can’t give you an exact timeframe simply because each person’s tattoo is different, and each individual has their own set of circumstances. We can, however, tell you with certainty that you should expect to come in for multiple sessions. Typically, tattoos that are located where you have the most body fat are easier to remove. This includes your arms, buttocks, chest, and legs. Tattoos located on the ankles and fingers are more difficult to remove due to the low percentage of body fat located in those areas. You also need to account for the size and ink colors of your tattoo, as well as its age.
Q: Does it hurt?
A: We know one of the major factors in deciding whether or not to get a tattoo removed is the amount of pain involved. While the process produces some discomfort, it is significantly less painful to go through laser tattoo removal than earlier forms of tattoo removal. The laser we use at Vivid Tattoo Removal – the enlighten™ laser – offers minimal discomfort and a short treatment time.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: There are several variables that go into determining your final cost. That’s why any reputable tattoo removal service will ask to see you and your tattoo in person in order to provide an accurate estimate before you start treatment. Some of the factors that determine your cost include the size and color(s) of your tattoo and the number of treatment sessions you require, and several other factors. At Vivid Tattoo Removal, we will provide you with a no-obligation quote during your initial consultation.
Q: What happens during the tattoo removal process?
A: Laser tattoo removal is by far the most used process. It works by emitting pulses of light energy to the tattooed area in ultra-short bursts. As the laser light hits your skin, it breaks up the ink into tiny, dust-like particles. Your body absorbs the particles and eliminates them through its natural processes.
Q: How long should I wait between appointments?
A: We recommend scheduling your tattoo removal sessions approximately six weeks apart. Although it may appear the treated area has healed in about two weeks, you can’t see what’s going on beneath the surface. Your lymphatic system is still hard at work eliminating the ink that has been broken down into particles by the laser.
